COOMBE FARM FLAGSHIP WINES EXCEL IN RECENT AWARDS.

Following a steady emergence into the Australian wine scene, we are excited to announce that the acclaim for our wine just keeps on growing. In the past 2 months our signature wines have been chalking up reviews and the odd medal in a series of national wine challenges.

We were modestly proud to accept two bronze medals in this years’ Boutique Wine Show. Medals went to both the 2006 Coombe Farm Chardonnay, and 2006 Coombe Farm Pinot Noir.  Whilst Huon Hooke and Bob Campbell MW of The Gourmet Traveler Wine Magazine ranked both the 2006 Coombe Farm Viognier and the 2006 Coombe Farm Chardonnay in the Top 100 New Release wines of 2007. The Chardonnay awarded 90 Points.

LATEST RELEASE WINES

Now, with Summer about and temperatures hitting swelter-point, be sure to think quick and grab a cooling mixed dozen of our Latest Release ‘Summer Chillers’...

The Cellar Doors timely procurement of the 2007 vintage Pinot Gris, Viognier and all new Rose from the winery couldn’t have come at a better time. All three are now available exclusively from our Cellar Door, so why not try before you buy? Be quick to avoid disappointment as all three are in very short supply.

PINOT GRIS - 2007 - $21

The 2007 Pinot Gris is a pale straw colour. It has a light and slightly savory nose reminiscent of fresh ocean air. The palate is delicate and cleansing, with green olives, lime leaf and fresh minerality. A refreshing spring drinking style, pack it in the picnic and drink with antipasto.

VIOGNIER - 2007 - $21

Fresh from the success of our 2006 vintage, we’re pleased to announce our latest 2007 release. This latest edition is a youthful pale straw colour. The nose is pure and varietal with stone-fruit, orange blossom and undertones of tangerine. The palate is well weighted and brimming with apricots, nectarines and exotic spice. This wine oozes class with its rich, silky texture and lingering flavour.

ROSE - CABERNET - 2007 - $21

The 2007 Coombe Farm Rose is made from the Cabernet Sauvignon grape providing added structure, complexity and depth of fruit flavour. Its colour is a bright transparent ruby, with inviting confectionery fruit nose of strawberries and raspberries. A medium weight, fruit driven palate gives the impression of sweetness yet finishes dry with non-cloying acidity. Great on its own, or match with just about any food.

ON THE VINEYARD

At present the 2008 vintage is progressing well. We have passed the critical point where frost could be an issue, and our dams have enough water to see us through to late 2008.

On a personal note, Nikki is soon to have her first baby, which is near vintage. Xavier has safely returned from the cyclone riddled North Queensland coast, and Chris is not getting enough sleep as his eight month old son William is teething.
